According to Football Insider, Wolves could sign Brazil international Hulk on a free transfer.

What’s the story?

The 34-year-old had recently been playing with Chinese Super League side Shanghai SIPG, but following his release there, is now available to join a team as a free agent.

And as per Football Insider, a Wolves source has revealed that Nuno Espirito Santo’s has been told that the veteran forward would be interested in a move to the Premier League.

One potential stumbling block to the deal is the kind of wages Hulk could demand, although it is confirmed Wolves are in the market for a new striker.

Upgrade on Diogo Jota

After seeing Jota leave Molineux in the summer for reigning Premier League champions Liverpool – and also having to watch the kind of incredible start he’s made to life on Merseyside with nine goals in 17 games – Wolves fans are no doubt looking on with a sense of regret.

The Portugal international was a revelation for Nuno, bagging 44 goals in his time at the club. And whilst the 24-year-old is entering the prime years of his career, and Hulk is virtually at the opposite end, the latter could be the instant hit for the here and now that the Wolves boss is surely hoping for.

Whilst of course the Chinese Super League isn’t near Premier League standard, the 5 ft 11 star had still been performing impressively for Shanghai before his release. He’d notched eight goals in 21 games this season, and had bagged double figures in both goals and assists in each of the previous three campaigns.

Before that, he was doing the business for the likes of Porto and Zenit, regularly starring in the Champions League. That kind of experience sets him apart from Jota, and could well see him hit the ground running at Wolves.

With the fact Jeff Shi would have to pay no transfer fee, it just seems like a no-brainer.
