The welterweight champion finds it ironic how the tables have turned with Thurman on the outside looking in.

Unified welterweight titleholder Errol Spence may be headed into a big fight against former champion Danny Garcia next month, but he still has his eye on some other big fights in the division. Keith Thurman clearly isn’t one of them.

It’s pretty funny because at one point it was Spence who was actively seeking a fight against then-titleholder Thurman, with Thurman basically dismissing the idea for a long time despite later insisting he wasn’t ducking the fight. But now that Thurman has expressed greater interest in a Spence fight, it’s Spence who’s cold to the idea.

“I always said my top picks at 147 is, you know, Manny Pacquiao, Terence Crawford, and I’m fighting Danny Garcia,” Spence said on the Pug and Copp Boxing Show. But when asked about Keith Thurman…

“Nah, man. He can chill where he at. I don’t know where he at but he can chill. On a serious note, though, I really don’t care to fight him at all. It’s funny how he wants to fight me so bad now but when I wanted to fight him I was this ‘young boy,’ this and that, this and that.

“You know, it’s kind of ironic. Like I always said on Twitter, ‘tables turn, you live and you learn.’”
