Man United down Aston Villa

Manchester United faced a trip to Aston Villa on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils headed into the clash knowing that a loss against Dean Smith and co. would hand Manchester City their 3rd league title in five years.

And when Bertrand Traore fired the hosts into the lead after 24 minutes, the blue half of Manchester were no doubt getting excited:

However, in typical Man United fashion, the visitors were able to fight back and eventually take home all three points.

Bruno Fernandes equalised from the penalty spot after Paul Pogba was fouled by Douglas Luiz.

Mason Greenwood then made it 2-1 four minutes later, before Edinson Cavani added some gloss to the scoreline with three minutes of normal time remaining:

Ferdinand’s message to Cavani

Cavani’s goal against Villa was his 8th in his last seven outings in all competitions.

Such form will do doubt see United fans wanting the Uruguayan to stay at Old Trafford beyond the current season.

Reports over the weekend have suggested that Man United will offer the hitman £250,000-a-week to keep him at the club next season.

And one Man United man who would seemingly have no issues with Cavani staying put next term is Rio Ferdinand.

Following the game on Sunday, the former defender took to Twitter to plead with Cavani to remain at Old Trafford:
