Marcelo Bielsa will be growing increasingly concerned at the prospect of losing Leeds’ star man Raphinha this summer as a number of “top clubs” step up their interest in the Brazilian.

Mesmeric winger Raphinha has proved a class above for Leeds this season. His form since a £17m move from Rennes this summer has captured the hearts of Leeds fans – and won the Brazilian an army of admirers in the process.

Indeed, such has been Raphinha’s form that there is growing talk that Liverpool and Manchester United could be ready to make huge summer approaches to sign him.

Leeds would undoubtedly reject any advances that come their way for the star man. However, an enormous offer – together with the promise of Champions League football at a new club – could yet force the issue and make it very difficult for Leeds to keep the player.

Were that to happen, pundit Alex McLeish reckons Leeds, and Bielsa, could have a problem on their hands.

Assessing the Brazilian’s future, the former Scotland boss told Football Insider that will be a growing worry for Bielsa.

“The scary thing is now he’s catching the eye of other top clubs,” McLeish said.

“That’s Bielsa’s biggest fear. This guy is just at a different level.

“I’m not saying he’s at a different level from Leeds. Leeds could get to that level when they’ve got a coach like Bielsa.

“Raphinha has just been an absolute £17million steal.”

Raphinha feels settled at Leeds

With five goals and five assists in his 21 appearances for the Whites, it’s easy to see why interest in Raphinha is mounting.

Speaking about his start to life at Elland Road, the Brazilian seems happy with his form in West Yorkshire.

“The Premier League is an extremely complicated, disputed and tough league,” he told Globo Esporte.

“The games are intense and balanced. I am very happy with my quick adaptation, after all, it is my first season.”

Asked what pleased him the most, Raphinha clearly gets what it means to be Leeds and the club’s ‘side before self’ mantra.

“I am pleased to be able to help the team in this return to the competition after so many years. The most important thing is that we are running a very regular campaign.”
