Jonny Clayton, Ryan Searle (50/1 – PDC World Championship) and Nick Kenny were among a group of six British hopefuls to progress at the PDC World Darts Championship on Sunday.
It was a hugely successful day for the Brits at Alexandra Palace, with the likes of Kenny, Jason Lowe and Keegan Brown securing their spots in round two.
Kenny had to dig deep to get beyond Dutchman Derk Telnekes, winning 3-2, before Lowe defeated Dmitriy Gorbunov 3-1.
Brown made easy work compatriot Ryan Meikle in the evening session, earning a 3-0 triumph to set up a second-round tie with Dave Chisnall (Match betting – Chisnall 1/3, Brown 12/5).
Searle and Clayton have advanced to the third round of the showpiece event following victories over Jeffrey de Zwaan and John Henderson respectively.
Monday’s schedule is a little lighter than previous days, but still offers up plenty of interest, with four second-round ties set to play out this evening.
Poland’s Krzysztof Ratajski gets the action going against Ryan Joyce (Match betting – Ratajski 2/5, Joyce 2/1), before Ian White and Kim Huybrechts (Match betting – White 2/7, Huybrechts 11/8) square off at the oche.
Gerwyn Price, who made it through to the semi-finals last season, meets fellow Welshman Jamie Lewis in the penultimate fixture (Match betting – Price 1/6, Lewis 4/1), with the winner set to meet either Brendan Dolan or Edward Foulkes in round three.
It’s an all-German affair to close out Monday’s programme when Gabriel Clemens takes on compatriot Nico Kurz (Match betting – Clemens 4/9, Kurz 7/4).
