Callum Hudson-Odoi has thrown Chelsea’s name into the running for the Premier League title this season.

Chelsea are among the favourites to win the league this season after spending more than any other club on transfers in the summer.

So far, they have only lost once in the league, but are currently outside the top four. They will be hoping to enter that bracket within the next few games after returning from the international break.

Should they build up momentum, they could challenge the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City for the Premier League title. Chelsea have not won the league since 2017, but are in a good position this year.

With new signings like Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech making them a bigger threat, Chelsea are looking upwards – and their players are making no secret of it.

Recently, midfielder N’Golo Kante admitted that Chelsea want to “win titles and be at the top”. Now, winger Hudson-Odoi has given an even clearer hint that they are targeting the Premier League trophy this season.

“We’ve started really well and we want to maintain that,” he told Chelsea’s official website.

“What we’re doing well is defensively we’re keeping clean sheets and up front we’re scoring a lot of goals, which is a good thing.

“We’re not just dependent on our attackers; we’re dependent on everyone in the team and we’re getting goals from everywhere on the pitch.

“We want to keep building, keep getting goals, keep getting assists and keep working hard as a team and hopefully, you never know, we could win the title as well.”

Hudson-Odoi returns from fruitful international break

The 20-year-old has only started one league game so far this season, thanks to the extra competition for his place.

He was even linked with leaving the club before the transfer window closed. Long-time admirers Bayern Munich walked away from negotiations, though.

Now, after scoring for England’s Under-21s against Albania, Hudson-Odoi will be hoping to prove himself at Stamford Bridge in the weeks ahead.

He added: “I wanted to try to get a goal and give a good performance so hopefully I did that.

“I want to keep improving every day, keep working hard and keep getting good results for the team.”
