Juventus have pushed back their plans to offer Paulo Dybala a new contract due to his high wage demands, according to reports in Italy.

Dybala is one of the most coveted forwards in Europe, having impressed for Juventus since 2015. However, it hasn’t always seemed certain that he would be staying with the Italian club.

The Argentine forward was linked with a departure last summer. Manchester United were a contender for his signature, while he has also attracted Real Madrid.

Now, his future is coming into focus again, as his Juventus contract is running down. His current deal will expire in 2022, meaning the Serie A giants must act quickly.

Juventus have been planning to offer Dybala a new contract, but there is a gap between the 27-year-old’s demands.

According to La Stampa, Dybala would like an annual salary of €15m, but Juventus are only offering €10m. They will need to come to a compromise soon, or else they risk losing him for a discounted fee.

Juventus are trying to lower their wage bill, and that has even led to speculation that they could get rid of Cristiano Ronaldo. Now, his fellow attacker Dybala is also in the spotlight for his future.

Talks on hold until 2021

Dybala remains a key player for Juventus, but has only started two games in Serie A this season. He has since recovered from injury problems to begin the process of getting back into the team.

However, his long-term future with the club remains in doubt. Because of his high demands, Juventus have now decided to delay talks over a new deal.

The Bianconeri will now wait until 2021 to commence negotiations with Dybala. If there are further disruptions, then several clubs will be on alert.

The report adds that Man Utd and Real Madrid will keep following developments closely. They retain an interest in Dybala and perhaps could be tempted if he was available for the right price.
