La Liga outfit Valencia are hoping to make Bryan Gil ‘fall in love’ with them before launching a summer move for the Tottenham loanee, as per a report.

Gil came through the ranks at Sevilla before making his first-team debut in January 2019. He went on to make 21 appearances for the club in all competitions, registering two goals and two assists.

The winger’s exciting displays at Sevilla earned him a transfer to Tottenham in the summer. The north London outfit, then managed by Nuno Espirito Santo, spent £22.5million to bring Gil to the Premier League.

However, he failed to make a significant impact at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the first part of the season. Gil did not complete a full 90 minutes in the league, mainly relying on substitute appearances for game time.

The 21-year-old’s fortunes did not improve after the arrival of Antonio Conte either. As such, he was loaned out to Valencia for the rest of the campaign.

The wide man is yet to open his account at the Mestalla Stadium. However, he has put in a series of top displays and is already liked by supporters.

Valencia eye permanent Bryan Gil move

According to Sport Witness, who cite reports in Spain, Valencia are attempting to make Gil ‘fall in love’ with them so he decides to make the transfer permanent.

Their chances of signing him are boosted by the fact Gil’s ‘smile has returned’ in Spain.

His development is back on an upward trajectory after stalling while at Spurs. Valencia hope his desire to feature at the World Cup in Qatar will convince him to stay in La Liga past this season.

Gil is aware that the supporters are keen for him to stay, although it remains to be seen if this will work.

Spurs will need some convincing to sell a player they only brought in last year.

Gil spoke about his success at Valencia earlier this month. “Every player needs to have continuity, to feel important. Here, at Valencia, I feel (important) from the first day,” Gil told Spanish outlet AS.

On his time at Spurs, Gil added: “Not playing affects you on a day-to-day basis, obviously, because you are sadder and more downcast. But it is part of football and you have to accept it.”
