Andrade: Big names continue to avoid me so I’ll stay busy
Andrade continues to be on the outside looking in when it comes to securing a marquee fight.
Demetrius Andrade will be back in action later this month when he takes on Dusty Hernandez-Harrison on Nov. 27 on DAZN, but it’s yet another lackluster matchup that won’t move the needle for most fight fans. But despite the less-than-thrilling matchup, Andrade says it was either this or continue to wait on the sidelines.
“I thought long and hard about this. At the end of the day, this is another opportunity for me to go out there, get another win, and look spectacular doing it. Also, (continue) testing what my body feels like at 168 pounds.
“Is this the big fight I wanted or have been chasing? No. But what am I supposed to do? Sit here and keep waiting for someone to answer the phone or accept one of Eddie’s offers?”
Andrade continues by saying that with him being in the prime of his career he wants to stay as active as possible and is still looking for the biggest names in and around his division. And according to Andrade, it’s time for one of those big names to step up to the plate, with him saying that they can’t duck him forever. But with that being said, the big name opponents have been doing just fine without him, so maybe they can.
This situation proves to be a bit of a dilemma for Andrade, who for as talented as he is really hasn’t captured the attention of fight fans at large who often criticize him for being in boring fights. It seems that if Andrade is to ever get one of the fights he wants, he’s going to have to win a lot more fans over in order to have them create the demand for a marquee fight for him. But will that ever happen? The clock is ticking.
