Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga has left his agent amid links with a transfer to Manchester United, it has been reported.

Camavinga is one of the most promising young players in Europe. He made his senior debut for Rennes at the age of just 16 and has been a regular for much of the time since.

His long-term future seems destined to be away from the French club, and he recently admitted that “the big clubs make me dream”.

Man Utd are among the potential suitors for the 18-year-old. However, they face competition from Real Madrid – who seem to be the favourites to sign him next summer.

Rennes, though, are keen to tie him down to a new contract, to secure his services for a little longer. But there has been a fresh twist in the saga.

AS carry reports that Camavinga has left his agent Moussa Sissoko. It leaves his father Celestino in charge of contract negotiations for the time being.

Rennes only have the midfielder under contract until 2022, so are keen to extend his deal in order to ensure they at least get some financial reward for their top talent.

Those negotiations will have to go through his parent. In the long-term, though, the world’s leading agents are queuing up for the France international.

Agents could take Camavinga to Madrid

The report details a “war” between Jorge Mendes, Jonathan Barnett and Pini Zahavi to represent Camavinga.

All three are big names when it comes to football agents. Mendes represents Cristiano Ronaldo, Barnett’s most famous client is Gareth Bale and Zahavi was the intermediary behind the most expensive transfer ever – that of Neymar from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain.

AS add that if Camavinga signs up with either Mendes or Barnett, it could help his chances of joining Madrid. Both the agents have a history of negotiating deals with the side from the Spanish capital.

In the meantime, it is warned that the teenager must focus on the pitch. After losing to Chelsea, Rennes can no longer qualify for the Champions League knockout stages, but will still be fighting for a place in the Europa League.
